Book Signing with Vermont Author and Storyteller — Stephen Garrow
The Hayloft at Artistree
South Pomfret, VT 05067
How to get there
Join us for a very special afternoon in the Hayloft as we welcome Stephen Garrow, a 92-year-old author, storyteller, and lifelong Vermonter, for a book signing and conversation celebrating his extraordinary life.
As a young man, Stephen worked right here in the very barn that is now home to Artistree Community Arts Center—back when it was part of a local dairy farm. His connection to this place runs deep, and so do his stories.
Stephen will share reflections from his two books, The First 92 Years of My Life and From the School of Hard Knots, a unique collection of recipes, memories, and lessons gathered over a lifetime of farming, cooking, and community. The second book is lovingly dedicated to his late son, SGT. Keith Garrow, who served his country with pride.
A true jack-of-all-trades, Stephen has been a farmer, chef, salesman, truck driver, foster parent, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and storyteller. His wife of 70 years, Lorna Garrow, age 88, will also join him—she’s an author herself, having written My First 40 Years of Foster Care.
The Garrows were featured on the WCAX episode of Super Seniors in March of 2021. Click here to view!
All three books will be available for purchase and signing. Come meet the Garrows, hear their stories, and celebrate a life well-lived, filled with family, food, and Vermont history.
